Ellis

Tonight I had the unexpected pleasure of seeing Ellis play a small concert here in our city. Before a few days ago, I had never heard of her. There's some sample songs on her website if you want to take a listen.

Earlier in the evening, I went to dinner with a few friends and then they suggested we go see her performance. It was a small, intimate setting and I was utterly transfixed on the music from beginning to end. I wound up buying two of her CD's, both of which she signed for me.

Simply put, she was amazing... I can't believe she hasn't "made it" in a big way yet. Someone did tell me that she has been featured in Girlfriends magazine, but I don't remember seeing the article. Not only is she a sexy lesbian with a guitar, but she also had some of the most heartfelt song lyrics I've heard in a long time. If I had to describe her sound, I would say she is kind of a folksy Alanis Morissette.

I wonder if anyone of you have ever heard of her, or have seen her perform? If not, be sure to check the tour dates and see her if you can!

Hey Sublime, I just check her out. She reminds me a little of victoria williams, same genre and that same wilting yet strong voice. I'm so glad you had a great time.

*PERK* ...a folksy Alanis Morissette? Never heard of her but you've got my interest. Is she kind of like Ani Difranco?

It's amazing what friends and a little music can do. Glad you enjoyed yourself.

Sublime,

Hugsss to you. As someone who has lived through heartbreak and has come through the other side to find a better, wonderful, world...can I offer you some gentle advice?

Try forcing yourself to accept that the relationship is really over...even though you don't want it to be. Listen to the little voice in your head that is telling you that this might actually be for the best.

Do not call her. Even though you want to..don't. This is a tough one, but I swear it does get easier. If she calls you be polite, nice. Ask her how she is, but detach yourself from it. Keep the call short. Have an excuse ready in your mind so you have it handy. An appointment, a flu bug keeping you close to the bathroom, someone at the door, opps the other line is beeping...gotta go!

Do not blame yourself or her. Just keep telling yourself that something wonderful is waiting for you.

Pamper yourself. Get a haircut. Add a little fun color or something. Buy something new to wear that touches your sexy confident side. Not to then put on and strut in front of her like "she what you're missing" but to wear for yourself...to stut a little in front of the entire world like "Here I am, everyone! Sorry to keep you waiting." :)

Keep busy. When you feel yourself falling into the "place" of missing her and saddness....resist it by going out and doing something. Get some of those things done that you've been meaning to do. Call relatives or friends whom you've been out of touch with. Allow yourself to meet new people without feeling guilty.

In other words, live your life ~ sublimely.

:)

Bon Jour Sublime...(I'm feeling homesick for ST)

I remember those times when I was privilaged enough to discover something or someone "new." That has become more and more difficult in our ever cluttered lives...more imput than we can ever truly handle.

It's nice to say yes isn't it. Just yes, sure, why not.

Cool.

Glad you had a great time.
